Who we are

Paiban makes the call when you can't decide: say what you're stuck on and get one answer.

What we collect

• Account: your name, email, profile picture and Google account ID from Google Sign-In. Before you sign in, a trial account is tied only to a random install ID; when you sign in, the trial history moves into your account.
• Decision records: the question text (the transcript, for voice), options, conditions, the answer, and your feedback (another, deciding, action buttons, your gut reaction, the next-day rating and, if you give one, why a pick didn't work out). Used for your history, your record and to personalise future answers.
• Approximate location: if you allowed location access, it is sent with a question only to find nearby places and weather. It is not stored. The country your connection comes from (told to us by our hosting provider) is used to look up local prices and is not stored either.
• Decide together: if you share a decision for friends to vote on, their votes (which options were fine), their notes and, if they give one, a first name are kept with your decision. Friends voting see only the tally and notes, never names. Voting needs no account; the page keeps a random ID in the friend's browser so a vote can be changed.
• Usage and subscription status: how many decisions you made each day and, if you subscribe to Pro, your subscription status: from Google Play (the purchase token, plan and renewal date, which we check with Google) or, outside Google Play, from Stripe. Payment details are handled only by Google Play or Stripe; we never see them.
• Crash reports: technical details (device model, OS version, stack trace) when the app crashes, without your questions.

What we don't keep

• Voice recordings: your recording is sent encrypted to our server and to Google Gemini (via OpenRouter) only to turn it into text and pick out the options. We do not store the recording; we keep the transcript and the decision. A typed question or follow-up is sent to Gemini the same way, so it's understood together with the conversation; offline, it's understood on your phone.
• Web searches: when a question needs current facts (prices, specs, reviews, opening hours), a short search written from it (for example "MacBook Air vs ThinkPad price Malaysia") is run through OpenRouter's web search (Exa). The search and the facts found are cached for 24 hours and shared between people who ask the same thing, without who asked.
• The next-day "how was it?" reminder is a local notification scheduled on your phone, not by our servers.
• We don't sell your data, show ads, track you across apps, or train models on your data.

Service providers

• Cloudflare: hosting and database
• OpenRouter / TypeSafe: the decision service; receives the question summary, options, conditions and your preferences
• OpenRouter / Google Gemini: speech-to-text and understanding questions; receives the recording or the typed text, which is not stored by them
• OpenRouter / Exa: web search for current facts; receives the short search, not who you are
• OpenStreetMap (Overpass, Nominatim) and Open-Meteo: nearby places, place names and weather
• Google: sign-in, and Google Play: payments in the Play Store app · Stripe: payments outside Google Play · Hugging Face: optional on-device model download · Sentry: crash reports

How long we keep it

Until you delete it. You can delete a single decision, clear your history, or delete your account. Deleting your account removes all your data from our database immediately; backups roll over within 30 days.

Your rights

In the app, Settings → Data lets you export everything (JSON), clear your history or delete your account. See also Delete your account.

Children

Paiban is not directed at children under 13.
